Gadna- a peak into the Israeli Army...by Austin
During my IDF Gadna Army week, I learned a lot about Israel's military and how it differs from the American military. In Israel, everyone who is 18 has to enlist into the military. In the United States, the citizens can choose whether or not they want to join the military, unless in a time of crisis. This really surprised me because there has only been a couple of times that the United States had to draft people, but in Israel every year citizens that are 18 and eligible must join the army. One thing that I found similar is that in both countries we take the military seriously, and we are thankful for those who serve. Through Gadna, I learned a lot about Israel's army and how it works.
