| Shalom Friend, |
The Israel Scouts Movement was created in 1919, 90 years ago, and was the first Hebrew youth movement in Israel. Today, the movement includes over 70,000 participants, in over 170 shvatim (chapters/tribes) from Kiryat Shmona in the North to Eilat in the South. It is the only pluralistic, non-partisan educational youth movement in the country. Based on the principals of friendship, camaraderie, community service and social justice, the Tzofim encourages its scouts to have social, democratic lifestyles with an emphasis on self-starting, excellence, independence and a love of the State and the people of Israel. The Israel Scouts teaches its scouts to be good citizens and young leaders. Since the inception of the country, this movement has been an initiator and partner in all aspects of pioneering and meaningful Zionist activities that occur in Israel. We, at the Friends of Israel Scouts, Inc. - Tzofim, are proud to be associated with such a noteworthy and revolutionary organization. So many of us are the people we have become as a result of the Tzofim. We hope that you will join us in congratulating the Israel Scouts on the past 90 years and help us to ensure its sustenance for the next 90. Mazal Tov!

MIDWEST OFFICE UPDATE |
|
We are happy to announce that Alon Ozeri, has joined the Midwest Office team. His main goal is to establish a new Tzofim Tzabar scouting chapter in Chicago. Throughout the last two months, Alon has laid the foundation for the new chapter, represented the Tzofim at the Cincinnati summer program fair and has functioned as a counselor for the Garin Tzabar Midwest group. In addition, Alon will replace Yarden Mekaiten while on maternity leave, beginning in late February. Welcome and good luck to Alon in his new position! On January 11th, a meeting was held for parents of the new Tzabar chapter. Despite the snow, many people were in attendance and volunteered to assist in all aspects of building the chapter. Our first activities will consist of leadership training for 8th-12th graders. The scouts are looking forward to participating in the Mid-winter Tzofim Tzabar convention in Los Angeles, for the first time. This Purim, activities will commence for younger scouts. All 4th-7th graders are welcome to join in the festivities.
